Welcome to The Vulture's Nest- the official portfolio and digital home page of journalist Brendan Rodenberg. I was originally asked to create this web page as part of a school project, but over time, intend on transforming it into a hub for all of my past, present, and future work. Before doing so, though, I'm sure people visiting this page without any previous knowledge of me, so I'd like to take the opportunity to answer some questions about my content and my goal of continuing to share my work.
I have been working as a professional journalist for three years at the time of this post's publication, but have been a writer, interviewer, and photographer for much longer, and my work spans multiple genres and mediums. Now, as a digital reporter for KX News, I cover everything from crime to local entertainment in Bismarck, North Dakota, while pursuing my Master's Degree from the University of Missouri.
While I have already received some acclaim as a writer and photographer, I am constantly driven by a desire to improve, and grow as both a writer and a person. It is this drive that inspired me to make a website - and while it has been in the works for some time, a surge of assignments caused me to put it on the back burner for some time. But one can only put off a project for so long, and since I started writing, I have seen both light and darkness in equal amounts, which have shaped my worldview in ways I could have never imagined.
On this website, I intend to post not only archives and reflections on my previous stories, but also original works of journalism, in-depth interviews, and exclusive pieces that cannot be found anywhere else. Make sure to check back frequently for more, and I can't wait to share my journey with you- however bleak or hopeful it may be.
